From the Bhadohi workshop to your floor

Global Overseas weaves handmade rugs in Gopiganj, Bhadohi, and ships them across India and to buyers in more than 50 countries. This page explains how an order is packed, how long delivery usually takes, and what to expect when the shipment arrives.

Procedure

How an order is shipped

Every consignment follows the same sequence. The written confirmation you receive is the schedule for that order.

01

Confirm the order

Share the destination, sizes, quantity and whether the rugs are ready designs or custom. We confirm the price, packing method, shipping term and a written timeline before weaving or dispatch.

02

Weave and inspect

Carpets are finished in our Bhadohi workshop. Each piece is checked for size, pattern and finishing, then cleared for packing.

03

Pack for transit

Rugs are rolled or folded, wrapped against moisture and dust, and packed in export cartons or bales with corner protection. Samples can be packed separately from a bulk order.

04

Book the shipment

We book the agreed mode: courier or air for samples and urgent pieces, or sea freight for larger consignments. The commercial invoice, packing list and shipping documents go with the booking.

05

Track and deliver

Once the goods leave, we send the tracking number or bill of lading. The consignee receives the shipment at the agreed address, or clears it at the destination port when the shipping term requires that.

Timelines

Typical delivery times

These ranges are a planning guide. The date on your quotation replaces them if the two differ. Public holidays, customs holds and carrier delays can add time after dispatch.

Shipment Typical time What affects it
Within India About 3-10 working days after dispatch Road or courier, depending on the city and the size of the consignment.
Samples and urgent pieces About 5-12 working days after dispatch Air courier. Transit is shorter; freight cost is higher than sea.
Sea freight to the USA, UK and Europe About 4-7 weeks after the vessel sails Port handling and destination clearance sit outside the sailing time.
Other international destinations Quoted with the booking We export to 50+ countries. The schedule depends on the service and the route.
Custom hand-knotted orders Production time is quoted with the order Smaller pieces often take a few weeks. Large or high-knot carpets can take a few months before packing starts.

Ready designs move to packing after approval. Custom rugs are not dispatched until weaving and finishing are complete, so ask for the production window when you request a quote.

Packing and handling

  • Rugs are cleaned of loose fibre, then rolled or folded so the pile is protected.
  • Moisture-resistant wrapping and a strong outer carton or bale are used for export.
  • Cartons are marked with the order reference, piece count and destination.
  • Samples can travel ahead of the bulk order so a buyer can approve colour and quality.
  • Insurance can be added when you ask for it. Say so before the freight is booked.

Documents and charges

  • You receive a commercial invoice and packing list with the shipment.
  • Export documents required for the destination are prepared with the booking.
  • Freight is quoted by mode, weight and destination. It is not a flat website rate.
  • Import duty, tax and last-mile delivery after customs are extra unless the quote includes them.
  • A full delivery address and a phone number for the person receiving the goods are required before dispatch. Freight consignments are not sent to a post-office box.
On arrival

Receiving the delivery

  • Check the piece count against the packing list before the driver leaves.
  • Look for crushed corners, open wrapping or water marks.
  • If something is short or damaged, note it on the receipt and keep the packing.
  • Write to office@globaloverseas.in within 7 days with photos and the invoice number.
  • Unroll the rug on a clean floor and allow it to settle. A light crease from rolling usually relaxes.
  • For export shipments under terms that end at the port, your agent handles customs and inland delivery.
  • Questions about a shipment already on the way can be sent with the order reference to the same email, or by phone on +91 98397 70000.
  • Market-specific export notes for the USA, UK and Germany are on the export pages.
FAQ

Shipping questions

When does the delivery time start?

Production time starts once the order, design and any advance are confirmed in writing. Transit time starts when the shipment is dispatched or the vessel sails. Both dates are stated on the order confirmation.

Who pays import duty and local charges?

Unless the quotation says otherwise, destination duty, tax and local delivery after customs are paid by the buyer. We state the shipping term, such as ex-works, FOB or CIF, on the quotation before you confirm.

Can a large order ship in more than one lot?

Yes. Programme orders can leave in partial shipments as looms finish. Each lot has its own packing list and tracking or bill of lading.

What if a rug arrives damaged?

Note the damage on the delivery receipt where the carrier allows it, keep the packing, and email office@globaloverseas.in within 7 days of delivery with photographs and the invoice number. We then arrange inspection, replacement or the remedy agreed for that order.
